howdy!

well think its about time i update this blog, havnt done so in such a long time lol... just never seam to find the time to do it.. Anyway not a lot has really happened since the last time i updated, ive made a few bedding sets-pics to follow.. oh ive moved the nursery and built another one on the third floor and im just in the middle of decorating it, ive done the flooring-pics to follow, and ive also been busy doing the front door to the cottage after much decision on what colour to do it.. the girls bedroom is also almost done!.

no time for messing around

well today got off to a bad start, benjamin the guinea pig decided to attack me and scratched my face to death, so then i looked like id been dragged in a bush backwards lol.. then i went shopping with my mum, auntie, and two cousins celine and ellen, and my god have they grown up, celines 14 and now pays for things herself, by herself and asked me to come to the cashpoint with her, so grown up where does the time go, they both make me feel old and im only 22 lol.. so after a great day shopping, we came home, where they met my 5 terrors (guinea pigs) they had a cuddle withn pocket. i dont know who loved the cuddle more them or pocket bless them. now after a tired but good day im going to settle down and watch x factor and do some mini-ing.. finishing the new nursery and the exterior of the part of the house that has finished been built.

this is the living room so far. partly decorated for xmas and light/fan in place, just needs the celing doing now and a door making, then the skirting to be done

cuboard under the stairs-update

ok so it didnt work out quite to plan, struggling with the door lol. so am just gonna put pannelling, to cover the space under the stairs, and a porch area leading from the front door to the hallway, where the pram can go maybe, quite a big porch mind but im hoping it will work out, just depends as my main front door is quite big

well today im doing my cuboard under the stairs finally after months of saying it, dont quite know how i am going to do it yet, but we will see, my style is usually to just get on with it and see what it looks like, which sometimes can end up a shambles lol..this cuboard will be used for things like mop buckets, and other house hold things and the xmas decoration cuboard maybe, but we will see once is done.. maybe if the cuboard doesnt work out the pram and car seat may just be put under the stairs..

nursery/playroom

well you all know me by now, i change my mind like theres no tmorow lol.. anyway as you know ive decided to extend my house now named apple tree cottage. so ive decided to move my nursery. so the room that was the nursery is now a playroom and the room that was the origional playroom is now the nursery, lol if that makes sense, overall im happier with it like this.

its begining to look a lot like christmas!!

a real coal fire will hopefully be fitted in when i have found a nice one i like.
this is one of my fav rooms the stripes on the wall make it look a little bigger and really modern. something i learnt from watching 60minutre makeover lol.

the new dining room table complete with a christmas table cloth and gold fancy table runner. the fireplace will eventually be sanded down so the look will be like the table and the dresser. just need the christmas feast now in time for christmas day.

york dolls house fair 28th november 2010

first time at a dolls house fair and im already addicted to them. these are my fair pick ups,

update

not really done alot of work on my dolls house lately, been rather down, and cant concentrate, howeever i have drawn out my walls on mdf ready for my brother to cut for me. this is going to be the second installment of the extension. so theres another level- 4 in total,

on the ground floor, there is the living room and dining room
on the first floor there is the nursery and the girls bedroom
on the third floor there is going to be the boys room and the bathroom
on the fourth floor there is going to be the playroom, and a storage room.

the third installment of the extension is the kitchen (ground floor) and the parents room, (first floor) with an on suite (third floor), and a study (fourth floor). so over all this house has gone from a rather small house to a huge spacious house lol.. but it will be worth it, when it all comes together.

making your own modern dolls house car seat.

well as promised here is instructions on how to make a modern dolls house car seat. as with the pram you need a lot of patience and the materials are roughly the same.

as with the pram you need to used cardboard, for the main bit, and just sculpt it into the shape you want,. its a bit harder than the flat main body of the pram so a couple of layers maybe needed, or you could use a little bit of very thin wood just to keep it secure. 

after you have glued it together you need to pierce 2 little holes eiither side of the cardboardm for your handle to be attached to. for the handle ive used plastic- similar to those plastic bangles jewlrey you can get, and shape it into poisition. a piece of elastic was used- i just threaded it into the plastic and then tied the elastic into the holes in the carboard. i then painted the cardboard(underneath) and then covered the car seat in material.

 for the hood its similar to the pram, covered by the material there is a piece of think wire at the front and again at the back. the hood is then glued onto the material.

Now for the straps- ive just used thin pieces of ribbon and cardboard in which i have then painted. along with a tiny piece of velcro so that it sticks together like a proper one- so that the child cant escape!

Wire

The wire is used in two parts in the making of the pram. It could be any size you want, depending on the style you are looking for.

For the little shelf at the bottom I used 0.5mm or 1.0mm. This is optional you don’t have to have one like this, or you don’t have to have that style. Some people I know have used plastic or little wire baskets, but it does help to keep the structure of the pram and keep it upright. the wire should be easy enough to bend into place.

For the main part (where the actual body of the pram sits on I’ve also used 1.5mm or 2.5mm but its protected by plastic) just sculpt the wire around so that the body of the pram sits comfortable on it. It will hold its place once modelled into position. ensure that it is securley fitted to the bottom of the wire shelf at the bottom of the pram for sfatey, before modelling it into the position. i then painted the wire that is covered in plastic silver.

Body of the pram.

This is just made out of cardboard. Its easy to sculpt into position; if you want it sitting up just make the top bit where the head lies, a bit more upright. If you think that the cardboard is going to break try putting two layers in and glue together with pva glue or even a glue stick. I’ve also used foam board in some of the others ive made, just to make it a bit more solid, and padded. I then covered it in any material, and did a little fleecy blanket and cover to go with it.

Hood.

Again this is just made out of the same material as ive used on the body, but it doesn’t have to be the same its as you want to look. There’s two pieces of wire in there, hidden by the material. Its glued onto the main body in an archway tucked away behind the material, sometimes its hard to do this all at once so on some of the prams ive just stuck an extra little piece of material over the wire. There’s on wire going over the front and then there’s one in the middle.

wheels.

The wheels were bought from a model shop years ago, some people I know just used some from model cars etc, so it’s a matter of looking around and being creative.

i will try and find a list of supliers, for the materials used in this design. as i say ive had it all for years and am not sure where they were from. model shops should have them in..

living room-change

yet again ive decided to change my living room decoration. my house is a modern house and in most rooms theres a nice floral pattern or walls with patterns on, and whilst i liked the living room decoration i think it looks even  more modern this way.. so i painted the back wall a duck blue colour, and wallpapered it with the nice stripy blue and cream wallpaper from DHE.

garden path update!

well here it is my garden path, just need to do the edging around it but im happy with it. as you can also see the decking is also done just needs staining now,

today i got some gravel from the range. its ment to be fish gravel but its that small it will look good used as a garden path so thats what im going to do. its a light stone colour so will go perfectly in my garden. its going to lead from the patio step, to the gate, and theres also going to be a path from the patio leading down the centre of the garden to the pond area. on the decking area there is going to be french doors leading into the dining room. on one side theres going to be a gazebo and a bbq area and on the other side theres going to be a garden furniture set.

handmade nursery rocking chair

this is my handmade rocking nursery chair, have just finished glossing it white to go with the rest of my nursery furniture. am wanting to do a little cushion seat for it, to be more comfortable when nursing.

girls bedroom mirror.

the mirror is origionally from the DHE, and was for my living room but ive since changed my mind, so i thought i would redo it and make it girly for the girls bedroom. all it is is ribbon stuck onto the mirror. the ribbon was from The Range.

garden!

yay! i finally made a little bit of process yesterday.. i did my garden well half of it... along with the help of my bro who helped me do my decking and step. it looks great so far. just needs finishing touches making.. the decking still needs to be finished but i ran out of lollypop sticks so ive got to wait till they come.. and then i need to stain them. by the side of the steps im thinking of doing a nice trellis arbour with the same roses i have in the corner of the garden. theres also a pond to go in and a few others.

free material swatches/samples.

i got all these free samples online. im going to use some of them for bedding, throws, rugs, table clothes etc, and some of them for clothes, and curtains. and maybe cushions.

The ballerina sample you can see here i am going to use as a picture, and im going to frame it,

The stars material is organza so im going to use it as drapes in the nursery perhaps.
